Matching new wood to existing pine

Old pine furniture may have pieces replaced with new wood. If you simply apply any type of wood finish the new wood will stand out from the old quite dramatically.

To help the two blend in you will need to fine sand and distress the new wood slightly to match the wear on the old. Next apply a liberal amount of Finney's Antique Pine Professional Water Stain to the new wood only leaving it to soak well in. Wipe off any excess before the stain dries to produce an even shade. You can then clear finish or stain the furniture to achieve a specific shade.

Where one of our water based finishes is to be applied on top of the stain, seal the stain in with a single thin coat of Finney's Transparent Basecoat first.
