Which natural wood finish is right for you?

What exactly does the word ‘natural’ mean when we refer to wood finishes? 

Some people refer to the ingredients that a product is made from as being natural such as traditional oils and waxes.  Some Hardwax Oils, including OSMO Polyx Oil and Saicos Premium Oil fit into this category.

Other people suggest that ‘natural’ refers to the sheen level, perhaps a matt finish with a little bit of sheen, as opposed to the high gloss of French polish or a modern gloss varnish.

And there is a third interpretation too.  When we speak to customers, you would be amazed at how many people class ‘natural’ as meaning little or low colour change with a matt or satin sheen.  In this case our Trade Acrylic Varnish or our Invisible Oil is the one for you.
